Good read. Pogue is right, the game makes sense.

I think he meant to link this one:

Pogue: Memphis doesn't want to play Middle Tennessee anymore

"but not Memphis, now a member of something called the American Athletic Conference."

That's rich.

I thought it was going to be a picture of a good looking chick.

I could care less. Screw Memphis and their overvalued sense of self worth. We went through the same thing with Vanderbilit when they wouldn't renew with us 10-12 years ago. All of our fans got upset up about Vandy dodging us, but frankly I don't give a damn.

They both have hidden behind the vanity of acting like they have nothing to gain, but frankly we have nothing to gain by playing them anymore. We have proven they we can not only be competitive with them but in fact have proven to have a better program, so what do we have to gain? We still do not get respect even when we beat them to the tune of combined 8-1 over the past decade, so I would rather play a non-conference game against a team that's going to create more respect for us if we beat them.

Though Vandy returns to the schedule next year I could take it or leave. I think it will be fun, because we finally get them in our stadium for the first time but after that's done the novelty will wear off and I will grow bored with them and their BS...yet again.

I get why Memphis doesn't want to play us. If you're going to lose either way, which they consistantly have, they might as well play a big school and get a paycheck. No sense in taking a constant beatdown and not getting any money out of the deal.

That reply really shows your advanced mental capacity in comparison to our little pee-on, midget-sized brains.

I'd rather play Vandy. Beating Memphis nearly every season has lost its luster. Give me something new.

Come back once you have a large lead in the series and have won 5 of 6 games so far.

I haven't lost anything in Memphis that I ever need to go there again.

I get tired of the same bull**** that most MT fans have grown tired of.

The biggest win I will experience this weekend is when I get back on the interstate headed east knowing I won't ever have to go back again.

As I've always maintained, if the state of Tennessee could be given an enema, memphis is where the tube would be inserted.

Playing MTSU does nothing for Memphis, and by y'all's reaction it seems it's a mutual feeling. Unfortunately, the P5 has created a football hierarchy and we are trying to move up just as MTSU is. You went from the Sunbelt to CUSA and we went from CUSA to AAC, both positive steps for both programs. With the new playoff, scheduling is crucial and would think scheduling P5 teams for both programs is the thing to do.

As far as you guys leaving with a win on Saturday and not looking back, I have to disagree with you. I tend to believe your drive home will be full of disappointment. Either way, enjoy Tiger Lane as the tailgating should be fun. I think there will be a good turnout for both fan bases.

So Memphis is going to drop MTSU. A team that will help your strength of schedule because you have to play tomato cans (AAC fan said that) like Tulsa and SMU, so you can schedule to position yourself for the playoff?

Makes sense to me03-thumbsup

IMHO, this is a game that should be played every year. Both are FBS, G5, in good recruiting areas, in the same state system and they're only a few hours apart. This makes Memphis look bad IMO.

I agree. You should play unc Charlotte every year home and away too.

Not at all my point. We are trying to schedule P5. Also, not sure if this is a reason in this case, it can do with recruiting. MTSU is renewing with Vandy. SEC looks better then the AAC. The P5 has created a hierarchy like it or not. It's all about perception. We can't help playing SMU or Tulsa because we are in the same conference. Personally, I don't mind the series because I live in Nashville and had a lot friends go to MTSU.

The tomato can reference is a good one. A UCLA writer called us that before we played.

Why? It's not like we played each other before this series.

Well you're an idiot because MT owns a17-8-1 record so obviously we have.
