I think you mean Georgia State. Georgia Southern is still FCS. That would be my selfish hope, as I know some kids on the team and would get to see some AAC games.

Best for the conference? Probably Army.

Rice or UTSA likely.

Ga Southern actually joined the Sun Belt.

I'll be damned. So they did. Along with the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Howard? Wait... wikipedia is trolling me, right?

army has first dibs if they want it

we still have a relationship with sdsu, so they'd likely have second dibs if they want it

airforce, would probably be our 3rd target

then we'd likely look at umass and where their program is at at the time of invite, if we like where they are at they are the partner

if we dont, we go after any MWC willing to jump that can be a good travel partner for byu

beyond that we start looking at c-usa members in new markets with money like maybe odu or maybe marshall/usm if they build a brand over the next few years ...

utsa/rice arent being invited unless we lose a texas team for whatever reason

Why the hell are we even talking about this?

Anyway, instead of BYU joining, I would strongly favor picking off 6-8 teams from the AAC, and about 4-6 from the BYU/MWC, and merge the best of them.

Just an example,

East

UConn
Temple
ECU
USF
UCF
UC
Navy
Army

West

Memphis (move Memphis to the East division for b-ball, when Army/Navy don't play)
Houston
SMU (or Tulane)
Boise St
BYU
UNLV
Fresno St.
SDSU

Wouldn't be all bad, really.

I'm not sold on UTSA. Wait and see what kind of program they have in 5 years.

Why are you assuming we'll add someone? Why not drop someone? 05-stirthepot

You know the off season is over right? Actual games are being played. We dont have to do this to ourselves anymore.

It would be pretty cool to make the Army-Navy game an AAC exclusive.

Not no, but hell no on UTSA. Sure, they are decent right now in football, but when they aren't, is a Tier 4 (or whatever it's called now) school with a ~$100 million endowment REALLY what you want to be associated with?

To further put it in perspective, I recently got into an argument with a UTSA fan over their academics, so I dug a little bit, and discovered how truly bad it is. UH has 18 of it's grad school programs ranked in the top 100 (and it's probably more, since some are locked from seeing for free users).

Top 100 programs for UTSA? ZERO.

UH has 29 in the top 150. UTSA has 6.

We're also only mid to lower level when it comes to the AAC standards as a whole. If we accept UTSA, we might as well just throw academic standards out the window.

UTSA? Not "no", but "HELL no".

BYU will be football only, so Army football only
