FAU's defense is uncharacteristically low. Evidence of being pummeled by Nebraska and Alabama in consecutive weeks to start the season.

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - wkuhilltopperfan - 09-14-2014 01:59 PM

If WKU could get our defense worked out be might be dangerous. Until then we can beat or lose to anybody

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - Blue_Trombone - 09-14-2014 02:09 PM

Why does ODU have an asterisk?

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - Digi368 - 09-14-2014 02:33 PM

The disparity of OOC opponents is staggering. We really can't look into these numbers until we get deep into conference play

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - topper1296 - 09-14-2014 02:57 PM

I'm actually surprised we aren't dead last in total D.

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - UABslant - 09-14-2014 03:07 PM

I think it's pretty safe to say that UAB's offensive numbers will be about the same all season long. It's just a matter of whether our yards come on the ground or through the air... whatever your defense gives us, we'll take it.

Troy's goal was to stop our passing game... we rush for 380+
Miss St wanted to stop that running game... we pass for 400+
AL A&M DC (ex-UAB DC) knew we had great WRs... we score 6 rushing TDs

Again, whatever you give us, we'll take it.

Sorry. Forgot to include when i copied it from my message board where i posted it first. ODU is reclassfying, and cant technically be included in national rankings. I looked where they would be and included it though.

3 games is enough to get a picture of where you are. Arizona and OSU are good teams but your offense has been anept in all games and this is representative of that. Also, most teams have played good competition, ohio held UK to 20 for example, which is what they scored on florida as well. Ohio has a veteran laden defense that we scorched. Another thing is, when those weaker opponents are played, most times the offense either shuts down and becomes conservative or subs completely by the 4th quarter and it all works out. These numbers don't lie. I think most on this board would agree that wherever their team is ranked low is the problem.

I disagree but just a matter of opinion.

59-28.

And ohio held uk to 20.... we could have scored 70. It does work. It works every year. Oregon, bama etc all have had cupcakes. On a national scale it all works out. Utsa has seriously had problems on offense. Thats no secret. They are plain bad.

Hilarious though. Watching the absolute denial when faced with blatant numbers.

Bad? Did they struggle vs a solid AAC team with our QB starting his first game? Yes. Did they struggle vs 2 mid to top teams in the P5? Yes. We will see how things pan out in conference play. I would be calling foul if UTSA was #1 in every category too. It's just not a fair comparison when some teams are playing stiff competition and others are playing FCS, Sunbelt or MAC teams.

UTSA would score more points with a cupcake schedule like Marshall's 07-coffee3

Steroid use?

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - goliath74 - 09-14-2014 04:54 PM

The $2M that we were paid to take two season-opening poundings from Nebraska and Alabama should count towards our defensive statistics.

Very relevant

UK sucks your point?

Why didn't you put up 70?

And yes I'm sure UTSA is definitely bad.

Maybe I have to change my contacts but how is UTSA bad? They placed 2 P5 schools in which one is undefeated and the other whose only lost came against the #1 ranked team in the nation who by the way are the National Champions. Please explain how they are bad.

I guess we're not as terrible as I thought

RE: CUSA team rankings and statistics - banker - 09-14-2014 07:21 PM

Let's look at it this way, through 3 games last year Marshall had played Miami, Gardner Webb and Ohio, essentially the same schedule as last year. Last year we were 2-1 and had out scored our opponents 138-48. This year we are 3-0 and have out scored our opponents 134-48. So we are lookin about the same. Difference is really that we have dominated first halves this year and played backups more in the second half of games.

UTSA had played Arizona, Okie State and New Mexico last year. Very similar to last year, Houston may be better that NM, but Okie is a little down from last year. Last year you were 1-2 and had been out scored 69-107. This year you are 1-2 and have been out scored 63-76. So you look a little better on defense.

The real thing to look at is that after three games last year Marshall was scoring about 45 a game and giving up about 16. That held pretty consistent throughout the year. UTSA was averaging about 23 and giving up about 35. You ended up averaging about 26 and giving up about 27. Even though we played different schedules relative to each other, the over all performance didn't change much after three games.
