Troy Signs Wide Receiver Blace Brown - TroyFootball05 - 05-20-2014 10:51 AM

A bit of an interesting situation here. We've known about the signing of Blace Brown for about a month now. He's a WR at 6'1" 175. Will be a freshman in the fall, but here's his story: He played defensive back all the way up until his senior year and then made the move to wide receiver. His senior year he lead all of Georgia 6A with 1,137 yards, and lead the state again with 80 catches. Also had 8 TDs. 6A football is the highest classification in the state. By the time his highlights were put together, the recruiting season was wrapping up. Troy got him after signing day.

Do you guys think he might a diamond in the rough? I'm hoping he can play immediately and add to an already deep WR unit.

While I hate to see yall load up, a kid doesn't just wake up one day and accidentally lead the state in yards and receptions.

Kid looks like a player.

I'm impressed at who we have brought in this year. More impressive than in the last several years atleast.

Hope he's eligible this year

I know his high school coach. He came in this last year and replaced a traditional option offense with the spread. That would explain why he was on defense until his senior year.

I hope so too. The kid says he has abnormally huge hands. He could be the next Eric Thomas.

The Georgia Sportswriters Association had him as the 3rd best receiver in 6A. The two guys ahead of him were 4-Star guys. One signed with Tennessee and I think the other one signed with Vanderbilt. Still pretty good, in my opinion.
