Former 4-Star DE Transfers To Troy, Eligible Immediately - TroyFootball05 - 05-13-2014 06:43 AM

Georgia Tech transfer Anthony Williams was ranked the 13th best defensive end by Rivals.com in 2010. Significant offers were: Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, N.C. STATE, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Stanford, and West Virginia. Played LB and DE at GT. Williams is a GT graduate which waves the requirement to sit out a year while transferring. If nothing else, he'll add some depth to the DE position.

Nice pick up for Troy!

Nice pick up, hasn't always panned out for App in the past but maybe you guys will have better luck. Got a 4 star WR on our roster now from Oregon that has barely seen the field(nagging injuries haven't helped). Also had a 4 star DE from LSU that washed out of the program within a year and a half cause he wasn't getting PT.

what kind of stats did he put up at GT? This is definitely a great pick up from a non athletic tangibles outlook. Dude graduated with a degree, and isn't transferring just because of lack of PT or because of discipline issues.

I don't see where this is thread worthy. Lol. J/k. Congrats!

Not much to speak of. He should at least provide quality depth and may even start at the left DE position. We have a redshirt freshman starting at LDE on the post spring depth chart. I'd imagine a 4-Star that did nothing at GT would at least be on equal terms with what I think is either a 2-star, NR, or a walk-on. There is a three star underneath him in the 2nd string spot, but he has yet to show he can be "the man." We have several 3-Stars and 4-Stars (transfers) that consistently fail to beat out the two stars ahead of them.

It doesn't look like he played a significant role on GT's defense so unless he comes in and flips a switch I will say he will atleast be good for depth.

We haven't had tons of luck with P5/BCS transfers either. We have had solid play but most people look at the name of the conference or school and immediate assume they are going to come in start and make a huge impact.

Mike Pelton is not going to send LB a player that a mutual benefit can't be derived...It's not known yet if he's going to be a DE or OLB, at this point. Special teams could use the help as well...

Don't sleep on Troy. Never do it.

CORRECT.

Sounds like a nice pick up... Things are looking good for this year.

Might as well start calling him "rogaine." He just might be the only guy not named Tyler Roberts that can revitalize a thinned out DE position. Unless Deon Lee steps up. Deon was a 3-Star out of high school.

LB position is pretty solid with Mark Wilson, Sam Lebbie, Terris Lewis, and Mitchell Roland.
