I can't find 2014 numbers, but Idaho has graduated roughly the same as that in previous years.

yep, seems like with nearly 35,000 students there would be a movement afoot to restart football..so far the administration has turned a deaf ear to any group that springs up to support a restart..

With the Coyboys, UNT, TCU, SMU in the same region, it would be a difficult task to restart I think. If there is no outcry and $$ to restart football from students or alumni, why should the university do it?

I like what the smu president said back in the death penalty days...he said that no self respecting university would be without football and he considered fielding a football team to be just one of the costs of doing business...I wish the admin at uta had the same philosophy..I personally know plenty of alumni and supporters who would give their time and money to support the university and football if we had it..but it only took about 40 years to get a basketball arena so I may not live long enough to see the program restarted..

The admin hasn't turned a deaf ear to football, but the hurdles are far greater than many UTA fans want to admit. The current and previous president are open to it, but the cost of starting up an FBS program isn't small and UTA's situation is different than the one that existed at South Alabama or UTSA.

More has been done behind the scenes in terms of starting a football program than many know, but that doesn't eliminate the hurdles.

BTW, the Athletic Department is looking into upgrading the tennis facilities, the final sports program that for a facility upgrade...

utsa is fortunate in that they are pretty much the only game in one of the largest cities in the u.s. but they have little sports history and pretty much no on campus facilities. I'm originally from s.a. and wouldnt go to school there but my sister graduated from there. I applaud them for having the motivation to start football. It has leap-frogged them image-wise past uta and txst to being in a conference where their peers are rice and utep and unt and such. quite an improvement from the slc. uta has gone a different way by improving academic standing. I value the degree in architecture I got from uta. their program is very well regarded.
