Who's going to be the first to say the obvious?

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - GoApps70 - 04-26-2014 12:31 PM

I'll pass, too easy.

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - Tom in Lazybrook - 04-26-2014 01:12 PM

Yea, no point in going there.

Oh well and I thought they had a good shot (ahem).

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - GaSoEagle - 04-26-2014 02:08 PM

Well Ga. Southern and App are not eligible for a bowl next year and with Idaho that leaves 8 teams for 3 (or is it 4?) guaranteed bowls.

Hate to hear it, but glad to know it's only 2014. Hopefully the coach can get the ready to make a bowl in 2015.

I don't think they should be using numbers from 4 years ago. I think that's stupid.

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - David Krysakowski - 04-26-2014 06:22 PM

I don't think that Idaho will win enough games to be bowl eligible this season anyways.

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - MJG - 04-26-2014 07:01 PM

According to the Orlando sentinel four opponents are ranked lower than Idaho. So two upsets would be needed not likely but not impossible.

I hope we win our four out of conference games if we only win four. We should improve a lot this year and even more next. I am basing that on the amount of young players who got experience last year. The QB situation is much better and both lines should be greatly improved.

Dang Vandals, you can dress them up, but you can't take them anywhere.
Guess your trip to Boone on November 29th will have to be your bowl and ours.

Moving up puts you in limbo for two years kinda stupid.
The first year makes sense the second does not.

I have been to Boone and Statesboro and K like both.
Both you guys and Southern should have received invites ahead of just about all the recent FBS additions.

UNC has a major academic cheating scandal. Auburn pays a quarterback's dad to get the player they want. Neither get a nip on the knuckles and schools like Idaho and UNLV get slapped. Figures - these schools are not P5 conference money machines. 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-nutkick 03-nutkick 03-nutkick 05-mafia 05-mafia 05-mafia 01-lauramac2 01-lauramac2 01-lauramac2 07-coffee3

One day someone is going to have the nerve to sue the NCAA for discrimination in how it metes out punishment it's members. This whole P-5/G-5 reorganization is setting up a huge anti-trust lawsuit. A school left in the situation that Idaho found itself in is the perfect candidate to file such a lawsuit. I wish they'd do it.

That's basically what Miami did. They threatened to sue the NCAA and expose how the make money off player likeness and such. Then NCAA backed off all the new corruption at Miami.

How did the BCS schools cause Idaho's football players to get bad grades? Isn't that mainly limited up to the teachers, students, and coaches that monitor them? Your school, my school and all the other schools are playing by the same rules when it comes to the APR.

Have you ever thought maybe Idaho took a chance on some recruits they knew couldn't cut it in the classroom but might be better football players than they had? Took that chance on maybe winning more football games.

I didn't blame BCS schools for anything. I simply pointed out that the penalties that are given to G-5 conference members are harsher than those given to P-5 members. Had WKU been guilty of the same infractions that UNC was, you guys would have been lucky not to receive the death penalty from the NCAA. UNC wasn't penalized at all. That unfairness is the NCAA's fault, and that is what I said.

RE: Idaho banned from bowls in 2014 - GoApps70 - 04-27-2014 12:10 PM

The UNC situation makes it seem the former BCS has the NCAA in their back pocket.
Some football players cannot even read at a fourth grade level ---give me a break.
If App State did something like that the only football we would ever see is in history books and other teams on TV.

Additionally, the NCAA is willing to take 5-7 teams for bowl games this year?
When did Mickey Mouse and Goofy take over the NCAA.

Sources tell http://CBSSports.com , as many as five APR casualties this season. Bowl system in jeopardy? http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/24540493/idaho-unlv-banned-from-postseason-will-there-be-enough-bowl-eligible-teams-in-14

Since everyone seems to blame Idaho for anything and everything...
guess we will hear that Idaho brought down the bowl system and games next.

Five total teams with APR casualties + Penn State still ineligible, not enough teams for bowls.
And that is with the good news, Georgia State is eligible this year (also UTSA).
