JMU and Mo.State are out. Who ya got? - asupatch - 04-16-2014 12:06 PM

Three most mentioned viable options left are.
Liberty
UMass(Football Only)
EKU

UMass is my bet.

If they can get past the political ramifications, Liberty is a good add. If JMU was the Home Run pick for the Sun Belt, Liberty would be a stand up double at the very least.

More like a HBP if Liberty was added.

I disagree. They have good fans, good facilities and they aren't nearly as radical as many make them out to be. Is it a perfect fit? No...but it isn't a terrible one either.

Alright. All you silent Liberty supporters can now vote 04-cheers

UMASS is another add that would be like Idaho. Wouldn't make a lot of sense and would likely be a short term solution. EKU on the other hand fits in and is likely to be SBC for a while.

1) EKU
2) UMASS
3) Fold the conference before letting Liberty in.

I honestly feel if we asked any of these 3 they would accept. So these are probably the SBC's only options this year.

If EKU can get it together in time then they have my vote.

If we have to have a school this year and EKU can not be ready then Liberty would be my #2

I am only interested in expanding if its the right move for the league.

RE: JMU and Mo.State are out. Who ya got? - chidave - 04-16-2014 12:19 PM

Liberty is the best of the bunch there. They would be only the 4th FBS school in a talent rich and populated state. The big "if" is the political baggage, but with JMU and Missouri State out of the picture, it would be hard not to put them #1.

EKU wouldn't be horrible, but it looks like Liberty is ahead of them with facilities and support at the moment.

Umass...although being in a more populated state than Idaho, would be out there on an island. Football only invites, just don't seem like the way to go.

Liberty,UMASS,EKU--is a fourth school really not available. Is it possible the SBC has another name we are not hearing?

I abstain.

But if full cost of attendance follows through, there may be some natural weeding...(Idaho, ULM) following. UMass may have the resource to keep up in the new FBS era.

I'd obviously vote Liberty, but I'll let you SBC member guys have your vote.

This. None of these options fit into this category.

Nobody.

Nobody. We aren't going to need a 12th team for CCG. There's no consensus for any other candidates at this time.

Perhaps this is for the best. We have Idaho, NMSU, Georgia State that have struggled, and are bringing in 2 FCS moveups next year. Why not wait till we digest those additions before we add more? I voted for UMass, but only support their candidacy if we MUST take someone this year.

RE: JMU and Mo.State are out. Who ya got? - asupatch - 04-16-2014 12:29 PM

Early on but its
LU 2
UMASS 6
EKU 3

In the votes that aren't associated with a grad/alum/fan.

Why isn't "stay at 11" an option. My vote is for staying put, dropping Idaho when we can, and moving on.
