Troy goes to camellia bowl

USA goes to godaddy

ULL to New Orleans

And our conference will have some of the highest attended bowls.

I guess we don't get to play?

I don't think stAte will be top 3... That's just what I think tho.

That would mean you have us losing at least 3-4 league games. I guess its possible depending on our QB situation, but I don't see it looking at our schedule.

I didn't think it would happen in 2011. But it did... You never can tell.

But it's just my opinion. I've been wrong before.

Very few thought it would happen in 2011. That team surprised even the most optimistic ASU fan. I remember driving back from the Illinois Season Opener that year thinking the team had the potential to win 7 games if things fell right, and thought that Freeze would have the team turned around by his 3rd year.

Georgia Southern is the closest school to Orlando and I doubt even they would have 30k there.

5,000 to 7,000 tops in actually numbers for UL-L...

being able to jump in a car and drive 2 hours and spending $500 is a whole totally different ball game than jumping in that car and driving 10 hours. Not many families (mother/father/2children) will be able to make this trip under under $3,000 by flying including hotel and car rental. Add in a weekend at the parks and you are pushing $4,500. We are talking about a family spending $3,000 to $4,500 right at Christmas.

not going to happen for anywhere close to the numbers being thrown around. The only schools pushing 10,000+ would be schools making their 1st bowl game.

I personally like this bowl better than any in CUSA other than maybe Hawaii and the Bahamas. But I love beaches and the ocean.

Yep he gets the credit for this just like he takes the heat for all the other things that he does.

If we make to Orlando look for 30,000 plus. We have a good bit of alumni in FLA and the short cheap flight to New Orleans will bring us out in droves.

I would advise the 'newbies' to form their own opinion of how Benson is doing rather than relying on the opinion of some disgruntled fans of schools that have a chip on their shoulder.

The fans of two schools are really just upset they got left behind.

Just some house cleaning from previous posts. ESPN is the tv for the bowl. Bahamas bowl looks to be in trouble due to passport issues Since it will be an issue getting them for everyone in just 2 or 3 weeks.

Don't you just need a birth certificate to go back and forth from the Bahamas? Still a problem though if you don't have one and need it in 2-3 weeks, unless the university has one for admissions. I would have thought they would have figured on that before approving the bowl.

Game is at UCF, not the Citrus Bowl

No, its at the Citrus Bowl.

Guess it depends on which story you trust, Sentinel story has it at UCF, ESPN at Citrus. I do know throughout the planning of the game it was always supposed to be at UCF.

This bowl will be by far my fav... I absolutely love Orlando and plan to move there one day soon.

RE: New Bowl In Orlando To Have Sunbelt Ties (begins 2015) - Atlanta Trojan - 04-15-2014 01:07 PM

It also puts us up against a old rival in UCF from our 1AA days possibly.

RE: New Bowl In Orlando To Have Sunbelt Ties (begins 2015) - BMarkey - 04-16-2014 08:50 PM

I am fired up about this game, against the old (decent) CUSA.

Troy fans do not really want to go to the Camellia Bowl, but will take it over nothing.

Troy fans will pack Orlando, as they once did against UCF when our schools built a pretty fierce rivalry.

Also, Troy has thousands of alumni in Florida, many in Central Florida (where Troy has a campus). Trojan alumni from the '70s and '80s (when probably have of Troy's student body came from Florida) will make the short drive to the Citrus Bowl and make this game look like a home contest.

Unless we play UCF haha.

But I would love to play UCF again.

Hoping App State is playing East Carolina in 2015 there.

I hope we're better than 6-6 so we're not in this game.

I hope GS eventually makes it to this bowl and plays ECU. Lived in Washington, NC for a year and met a lot of ECU grads.

I'd love to play them again to.

I think we are 10-1 against UCF!

I'd love to play ECU again. We are 0-3 against you guys with a combined total deficit of 8 points. So close - I'm glad we wont play ECU this year (transition and all) - but I'd love to see you in Orlando!

I just had to look it up because I never remember playing you guys. Last meeting was in 1987.

This looks like a bowl for UCF or USF in the 'we didn't finish first or second this year' years. Still, I think it will provide a compelling location and some different teams to bowl against.

My guess is that this bowl will have ECU under the following scenarios

1) ECU finishes third or lower
2) Both of UCF and USF either finish first and second or don't qualify for a bowl.

My guess is ECU might want another shot at a SBC team, if only to see if they've improved enough to beat one of our teams.
