Southern Miss running backs shine in third spring scrimmage - EagleX - 04-12-2014 06:32 PM

the D is apparently vastly improved. and this Carmouche kid could be a game changer.

I'm a huge homer (as we all are), and 2-23 will chasten anyone, but I think we could surprise some people this season.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College transfer Jacob Carmouche led the way, stunning those in attendance with two jaw-dropping touchdown runs, one from over 65 yards out. Carmouche, who is filling in for the injured George Payne, bounced off of tacklers like he was covered in grease as he sped into the end zone for the game’s most impressive scores.

it would be interesting to hear from anyone that was at the scrimmage as to whether Carmouche scored on the first team D, or the afterthoughts.

I hope USM can turn around their program

Are you anticipating a win against Mississippi State? We would need it to go to 2-23 as we are currently 1-23 in our last 24 games. Technically, I guess we are 2-23 if you count the bowl game from 2011.

CUSA needs a strong Southern Miss. I'm pulling for y'all (except when we play you).

I'll bet you are lots of fun at parties.

It apparently can't stop the run.

My comment was funnier...and more truthful.

Coming from a fan of the only team we have beaten in two years... Yeah, it was hilarious!

If we are depending on Carmouche next season, we will most likely be in trouble. I expect the defense to be improved next season, but that is like expecting a newborn child to run faster in 3 years than he does now.

Whether or not we are competitive next season will depend on the OL, and to a lesser extent the DL.

yeah, I tried that one on demiveeman a month or so ago. I said something . . . he said something . . . and I said, "coming from the guys that put the '1' in 1-23 . . . " and then something or other.

his reply was something along the lines of, "yeah, and that makes me an expert on suck, so I know it when I see it".

something like that. I remember walking away feeling vaguely like he won that one.
