MBB: Another talented Atlanta transfer commits to GSU - Hammer 22 - 04-12-2014 11:58 AM

Kevin Ware from Louisville is coming back home to GSU, following Manny Atkins and Ryan Harrow. He's already applied for a medical redshirt to be eligible this upcoming season. Be afraid Sunbelt.

Medical redshirt only gets this year back and nothing to do with the hardship wavier he will need to play this coming season. From my understanding he's also applied for that. The kid still has a lot to over come from that awful broken leg injury to become a player to be feared.

I'm worried. He may become the next Tony Mitchell.

Yeah, I'm not overly worried about a kid coming back from a horrific leg injury. Not without seeing what he looks like first.

RE: MBB: Another talented Atlanta transfer commits to GSU - Hammer 22 - 04-12-2014 12:30 PM

Doctors have declared him 100% healthy. He's been scrimmaging with GSU players all day long as well. Reports are he's fine and that he'll fit in nicely.

I'm not worried one bit. He's a helluva addition to GSU. If he is granted immediate eligibility, he'll definitely make an impact on this team. Highly ranked guys don't make it at big time schools all the time. He'll be back home and can feel comfortable being around family and friends.

GSU's potential backcourt for 2014-15:
G- Ryan Harrow (First Team SBC)
G- Kevin Ware (Can shoot the 3 better. His main game is penetration)
G- RJ Hunter (First Team SBC and Conference Player of the Year)

Be afraid Sun Belt.

Ware will be a great addition. Can't wait to get our revenge on ULala!

Also Jeremy Hollowell, Indiana Hoosier transfer (started 15 games there this year), is on campus today as well.

I'll keep you guys updated on if something happens with him. He and RJ Hunter played AAU ball together. He'll likely have to sit out a year.

I got to give credit to Hunter for becoming Transfer U. Atlanta does produced a ton of talent, welcome the boys back home if doesn't work out elsewhere. Only trouble is if the pipeline dries up, then what?

Take advantage of the current trend and make a run in the tourney, when that happens more Atlanta kids will be banging on gsu's door first and other schools second

This is how I see it:

If you are that 4 star, 5 star kid coming out of high school and you make it at that big time college, you're there for two years (at most) before you go to the NBA. But, for those 4 star (Atkins, Ware), 5 star (Harrow) who don't not make it there, you can transfer to a mid major team and play there for two years.

Either way both schools can get that talented kid for two years. Hunter stated he likes getting those high-level transfers because they are still uber talented, but way more humble.

I don't think its fair to refer to Georgia State as Transfer U because Hunter's philosophy isn't entirely dependent on transfers as his classes have been a balanced mix of high schools kids and transfers.

At the end of the day, the game of basketball has and always will be about wins.

Tonia Mitchell.

I believe Mathenis was her hair stylist.

Wait? What? This came from a guy that actually had his team practicing how to cut down the nets in N.O. prior to the championship game?? LOL!!

Z, I don't know what uber talented is but it frightens me a lot.

What's the Sunbelt?

A team that relies strictly on transfers will never be great.
