Welp, that was a fun experiment

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - ColinApocalypse - 03-26-2014 01:58 PM

They couldn't cut it in the Mighty MAC.

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - SilentStryk09 - 03-26-2014 02:21 PM

So, are they going back down? Or are the C-USA/Sun Belts of the world taking them in?

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - bronconick - 03-26-2014 02:21 PM

And nothing of value is lost. No more partial invitations, please.

Hasn't been announced yet. It's all speculation right now. Some people are saying FCS. Some say C-USA. Some say independent.

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - Ubish - 03-26-2014 02:28 PM

losing to PJ was the last straw

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - anthonybronco - 03-26-2014 03:08 PM

So much for the Boston TV market... Would be interesting if they go to FCS... UMass goes FCS and Eastern stays as it is? Strange times indeed...

The leaving is official, but where they're going is speculation

Looks like they plan on staying FBS

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10677441/massachusetts-minutemen-reach-agreement-leave-mid-america-conference-2015-season-per-sources

Rumor is ACC or AAC.

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - anthonybronco - 03-26-2014 03:24 PM

They only stayed in the MAC for a "Minute"

Thanks, tip you waitress, I'm here all week!

Btw, too bad their historically short stay in the MAC (with a wonderful record of 2-22 so far) has a win over Western as one of the few "W's" in its books.

Ok, so you were recruited by UMASS... now what?

They do? We beat them in 2011 and 2013.

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - Bronco'14 - 03-26-2014 03:29 PM

Suddenly UMass ranks as one of my least favorite teams.
If they end up joining a solid AAC Conference, I'm going to puke.
Like Temple, UMass thinks their whole athletics - including football - are too good for the MAC which obviously didn't show for Temple or UMass. If they're going to act like that, might as well send them back to FCS because no one's going to take them back in D1 football.

If they do, it's because of basketball.

They do? We beat them in 2011 and 2013.

We didn't play them in 2011... and they weren't MAC members until 2012. Their only win in 2012 was Akron. They beat us in 2013 for their only win, giving them a total record of 2-22 as MAC members, with their only two wins over MAC teams. We creamed them them in 2012 but (as everyone remembers) they beat us in the last second last year at Foxborough... As MAC members, they're 1-1 against us and Akron.

We can file all that under, "way too much information about UMass football"

RE: UMass leaving the MAC - Chipdip2 - 03-26-2014 03:47 PM

Umass going BCS 03-lmfao

"That'll do it, from here in Winston Salem, in our best effort of the year Wake Forest 52 UMass 3, tune in next week on the UMass network when we take on the Seminoles of Florida State."

Well in that case lets get Gonzaga, Dayton, Villinova, Xavier, St. Boneventure, Georgetown, and other bball schools into the BCS.

yeah, we beat them last year. That was OUR only win. Although they probably should have beaten us at the last second, they missed the 2 point conversion
