Temple @ Ohio - Fanof49ASU - 11-02-2011 07:48 PM

I see that Temple and Ohio have the defenses from the Mac.

That said....I'd still like for Aplin to have a crack at Temple.

RE: Temple @ Ohio - WinstonTheWolf - 11-02-2011 07:53 PM

Someone posted on the Den that Ohio and stAte are two only a handful of teams that are top 30 in total offense and in total defense.

stAte
Alabama
Wisconsin
Boise State
Ohio University
Utah State
Stanford
West Virginia

As you can see, both of these teams have trouble with a mobile QB....even with solid defenses otherwise.

Ohio had a very good defense last year and Troy spread set New Orleans Bowl records, with a 38-7 lead at halftime. They HATE the hurry up offense, so Aplin should be able to knife through them pretty easily.

But the MAC is such an awesome conference, we marvel in their greatness. We could never compete, we need to temper our expectations, and hope that any SBC team is within 30 at halftime.

Excessive celebration just cost Ohio.....dumbarse move.

Er.....maybe not. No foul? How did they avoid that. The rule was written for plays like that.

RE: Temple @ Ohio - Fanof49ASU - 11-02-2011 10:15 PM

That Ohio QB was pretty impressive on that last drive that put them up 35-31.

RE: Temple @ Ohio - chiefsfan - 11-02-2011 10:25 PM

Ohio almost became the posterboy for why you dont kneel out of the shotgun. Center snapped it when the QB wasnt expecting it, got really lucky that didnt roll away.

Nice. Are you enjoying all the ESPN MAC coverage this week. There is a game a every night between Tuesday and Saturday. What channel are Sun Belt teams playing on? I would love to check out a game or two to see what I am apparently missing. I cant speak for all MAC teams but Chandler Harnish and NIU would certainly steam roll any team in the Sun Belt this season.

Just so you know....you won't find a Cal Poly around here. Come back when you find a defense.

Ahh, you're so right! I love watching games in empty stadiums on Wednesday nights. BTW, can you pass this note along...teams in the SBC play the second and third phase of the game that yall seem to have forgotten exist...you know...defense and special teams.

RE: Temple @ Ohio - Seminole Indian - 11-03-2011 06:40 AM

Thought both MAC games this week were more fun to watch than the last two Tuesday night SBC games.

IMO the SBC teams are a little more athletic and have better overall speed but MAC teams are tough, physical and well coached.

No, they've had two good matchups and their lack of speed is why they can't stop one another on defense. Just like the Big Ten, when they play one another it is entertaining because they have similar personnel but when they play teams from the south they look bad.

I think all the MAC teams I saw this week would have real problems against most SBC teams. They play good football in the MAC but the difference on overall team speed verses what you see in the SBC is very noticeable.

The games are only exciting if you think games with no defense at all are fun. I dont.

Cool story bro. I assume you agree with the other arrogant NIU poster that dropped by here a couple weeks ago and claimed NIU would beat every sun belt team by 50+ give me a break. The MAC fans that can't see that their conference is trending downwards drive me crazy.

I dont know if I would want national tv if it meant playing on a Wednesday Night. One Tuesday game a year is hard enough.

Did you watch the NIU and Toledo game? Both teams have offenses to compete with most teams. Speed is not a problem, eric page, Adonis Thomas, Austin Dantin, Chandler Harnish etc... Are very fast. Defenses are suspect but both teams have been scoring on all opponents.

Yes I did, and neither team can keep anyone out of the endzone. Thanks

Still fast players, speed was all over the place in that game.
