Could 7/1 make LeBron the biggest douche ever? - PirateTreasureNC - 06-30-2010 09:42 PM

If he punks out Cleveland he will never be able to walk around in Ohio ever.

If he goes to the Knicks, he went from a 60+ win team to a catastrophe.

If he goes to the Heat, Bulls, or whatever so be it --he might win a title but will be viewed as the guy who had his first team make ever amends to him to be in a title hunt yet left them high and dry.

why would he be a douche? their coach sucked and their GM failed in his attempts to get them a second scorer. anyone remember Larry Hughes? Lebron wants a championship and he deserves to go to a place that will be behind him and be competent. i've got no problem with this

RE: Could 7/1 make LeBron the biggest douche ever? - PirateTreasureNC - 06-30-2010 10:50 PM

they gutted the team to appease him...

fired a GM that was trying to get whatever he could to the Cavs

Fired a coach that got them 60+ wins back to back....

They bend over to appease him and he leaves...giving the Cavs near nothing in return.

As Cleveland native, I'm with Pirate Treasure on this one.

a coach that got them 60 wins? try a player who got them 60 wins. if you'd have watched the cavs at all, you would've known how poor of a coach brown was and is. and i'm not sure what you mean when you say they gutted the team. firing two guys that needed to go is not gutting a team. they still have the same ****** role players. It's like kevin garnett said, loyalty is great and all, but it can cost you.

I don't resent LeBron for where he goes, if it's a genuine attempt at a championship.

That being said, I think Cleveland or Boston make the most sense.

I live in Ohio... I have no issue with whatever his decision is. Playing at home isn't always what you think it is... as Ken Griffey Junior.

it's hard to tell right now what would make the most sense. going to cleveland would give him about $30 million more, assuming he doesnt do a sign and trade to go somewhere else. Going to miami might make sense depending on who riley signs and if he fires spoelstra and takes the coaching reins himself. the problem in miami will be who's gonna play pg and center? Chicago is an interesting choice if they can trade deng for bosh, but the problems there are, who takes the 3's and can rose play off the ball? As for the celtics, the biggest questions are, does the lebron play the 2 or the 3 and who plays the one he doesn't play? also, when will kendrick perkins be back? Because if he doesn't play this season who plays center?

IMO, if donald sterling would be more hands off and cede to david geffen, the clippers would be a great spot for lebron. they have a ton of talent at every position and a vacancy at coach that allows for anyone to be hired. they have the most talent but the worst ownership

I don't know enough about basketball to discuss these details. But, I will say that having Lebron and Kobe on opposing LA teams would make for great a great storyline.

no doubt about that. people are saying that if he played for the clippers he'd constantly play second fiddle to kobe, but i'm not sure i agree with that. if he wins a championship right away, he'll be a king. winning is a cure all

Coach before Mike Brown didn't win 60 b2b.

How the hell would the Clippers be a better situation than Cleveland.

probably because the previous coach didn't have hickson, williams, parker, etc. their rle players are quite good, they're just not great.

how would the clippers be a better situation? Let's see:
Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin, Chris Kaman (one of the top 3 offensive centers in the game), rasual butler, craig smith, deandre jordan, steve blake, travis outlaw and the addition of al-farouq aminu. That's an infinitely better offensive team than the cavs. the question is, could that team play defense?

It was my understanding that Lebron was already the biggest douche ever. Am I wrong?03-confused

LeBron has had chances to get into the championship game. He came up short or disappeared when crunch time came around. He's had more than one good chance already...

This will NEVER happen. Sterling is cheap, and he is on record that he doesn't sell anything. The Geffen speculation is a lark. Sterling doesn't need the Clippers to win to make money. They are a historically bad team; arguably (maybe inarguably) the worst professional franchise in all of professional sports. He will never spend LeBron-level money because he doesn't have to.

On the contrary, since the player salaries are capped, LeBron is guaranteed to be a positive ROI. Not signing him if you had the chance would be incredibly stupid.

Clippers will forever be hampered by their owner.... even if they had the money, they would never spend it on him. If the Clippers talent they have could win games they still would not be a LeBron away from 60 wins.

i didnt say it would happen. in fact it's nearly a foregone conclusion that it wont happen. i was just saying it'd be a smart move
