Per Pete, looks like Joel will get his wish...

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/fiusports/2010/01/1st-look-at-oc-candidates.html

Quote:FIU could have its new defensive coordinator in place by the end of the week. It's looking like it might be Central Florida linebackers coach/recruiting coordinator Geoff Collins who could up being the new FIU DC.

In addition, here are the candidates for OC's

Charlie Weatherbie - former ULM head coach
Rob Spence - former Clemson offensive coordinator and Syracuse OC
Gregg Brandon - former Bowling Green OC under Urban Meyer and Virginia OC
Shane Montgomery - Akron OC
Mike Cassano - FIU running backs coach
Mike Groh - Alabama offensive GA and former Virginia OC.

Can anyone find out who runs the spread out of all these guys, I don't think we can go to another system and be successful.

Rob Spence's offenses at Clemson were usually pretty good. He runs a balanced attack. Not really a spread offense like FIU has been running.

Gregg Brandon runs an offense similar to what Florida has. He had HUGE success with it during his first few years at Bowling Green. Not sure what happened though. A spread option might work well with all the south Florida talent and speed FIU has.

Don't know much about the others except Charlie Weatherbie. I guess he runs the spread like ULM has been doing??

I knew Collins would get a serious look!

And yeah, the OC candidates seem lacking... from what I've heard, Spence is good, but besides that, not much.
