Quote:The $1 movie rentals available through DVD kiosks like Redbox could spell "disaster" for the film and video industries—or at least, that's the argument of representatives for video stores and Hollywood unions, who want movie lovers to dump Redbox and return to their corner "mom-and-pop" DVD rental outlets.

I mean, I pay $1 for one night, or $3.50 for 3-5 nights. Sounds like you can make more money off of the $1 a night stuff. And you don't pay someone to stand at the counter all those hours. Doesn't sound like the demise of the movie industry.

Everybody screamed about the selling of VHS recorders, Hollywood thought they would steal money out of it's pockets. But the VCR opened up a whole new insustry - video rentals. For years Hollywood scored big on having an extra market for their movies. Now someone is taking it a step further and they're screaming again. How this affects unionized Hollywood plumbers is beyond me. Does selling a movie for a dollar a night cut down on the number of blocked toilets they have to fix?
