75 % 0f Texans would stay in the U.S. - Machiavelli - 04-17-2009 05:00 PM

I have to keep reminding myself that the right wing extremists are the minority. Thankfully 75% of Texans agree with me. whew.. that really makes me feel better about our country. Rick Perry is a douche bag.

Interesting, I was just thinking the other day, how could we split the US into a Good Country Bad Country ala Citi's Good Bank/Bad Bank strategy. I figured the Bad country could be the PAC coast states plus the North East States (North of the Mason Dixon) and the Good Country would be everything else. 05-stirthepot

The link goes no where. With that said, maybe 75% of Texans would stay in the US but so would 99% of Mexico.

Your map is a lie. I'll give you a chance to correct it before I show you to be an idiot.

OK.. enough of the crap..

1. Texas cannot secede from the US. I think the event of 1861-1865 pretty much resolved that.

2. However, under the 1845 Annexation Legislation and Treaty, Texas CAN subdivide into a total of 5 states. This was not changed by any of the Reconstruction Acts.

Rick Perry, being the typical Aggie, can't get his Texas History right.

Let 's see the Texas Legislature submit to the US Congress its Intent to Subdivide and let everyone scream.

However, I can't find a map of how it would be divided.

Not to be annoying...but...Why should the people residing in the geographical region fictionally pronounced as "Texas" have to bow down to the equally fictional concept called "The United States of America"?

It does not matter how you divide fantasy....Its still fantasy.04-cheers

Would not the best route to achieving liberty be to just ignore these fantasies?03-idea

There is no map. There has never been any actual agreement as to how the division would be accomplished.

Texas Monthly had a very complete article examining the issue back during the Carter years when Rexans were a lot more disenchanted with the president than they are today. Of course, Obama still has 3+ years to go.

Ok, then let me pose this question. Why in the hell are we called the "United States of America" and not just "America"? I'm sorry, I don't buy this bull**** that states don't have a right to secede. Also, for those thinking that they can't, and won't be able to, you need to realize that the majority of the military COMES from the South and other red states.

i would say most of the southern folks in the military would probably side with their home states and not the United states if something happened.(Kev feel free to correct me if i am wrong).

Over 70% of the military are considered conservative. No, you're not wrong.

You know libs, states DO have sovereignty. I don't give a rat's ass about how it's been perverted by the numerous politicians since TR, that fact still remains. It's high time for states to start reaffirming that sovereignty. The damn 17th Amendment should have NEVER passed.

You got that right right daddy-0 ...... Camp Shelby is located in southeast Mississippi, approximately 12 miles south of Hattiesburg. It is the largest state-owned and operated field training site in the United States.

And that don't even count England AFB, Eglin AFB, Fort Bliss, Fork Polk where Tiger Town is located, and on and on and on.

We have almost 85% of all the Air Launch and Ground and Artillery as well as Tank Assault bases in the Southern United States and we are KEEPING THEM ..... fully equipped as commandeered.

PLUS, as a bonus, a couple of NASA Launch and Landing Sites as extra booty . (OOO LA LA)

So keep talkin' illiterates ...... 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

Bragg,Lejeune,Pope,Seymour Johnson,Simmons,Cherry Pt.,New River,Elizabeth City.....NC wouldl be well protected if secession occurred.

I'm not sure though that having a large military would be all that great. It would be hard to finance as a single state. I guess alliances could be formed with neighbors willing to pay for a level of protection.

So basically what they are saying is that all of the illegal Mexicans want to stay in the U.S.?

RE: 75 % 0f Texans would stay in the U.S. - RC Horn - 04-18-2009 12:39 PM

Here's my take:

In lieu of the current DHS document concerning "right-wing extremists", do you honestly think that majority of Texans would openly advocate secession? Believe me, I know my State. :-) I too would answered in the affirmative about staying in the US. If that time ever came though(and i hope it doesn't), I will not "turn my sword" against my Native Texas.

Let's sell it back to Mexico, payoff the national debt before a vote is taken 05-stirthepot

You might be able to pay of the national debt as of 12/31/08, but President Hussein has driven the National debt to a point we owe our Great Grandchildren's income to China. 04-jawdrop

Fine then, the Chinese can offer the US a better price; we'll sell it to them instead.(jk)05-stirthepot
