I applaud them for getting together and trying to do something...but...It seems whenever these things happen they turn into a forum for the fringe elements to get on a soap box. The old guy talking about the sinister George Soros is a perfect example of why I would not participate in this. It is a waste of time and energy. Getting people of "like" mind together in in one place to strive for liberty is more productive and viable option. That is why I joined the Free State Project and plan on moving to New Hampshire in a few years after retirement.

problem with these people is they go off the rails too easily, get alot of things right and then absolutely ruin it. One of my biggest beefs with these types.
that said, the Tea Parties will have Thousands of normal americans at them.

I was involved with the RP campaign on the local level. We had 3 or 4 meetups and every time... someone would bring up some 911 truther crap or some other irrelevant topic that had nothing to do with achieving liberty in my lifetime...which is my personal goal. Most of those in attendance were of like mind...small government Republicans or Libertarians...but...The RP campaign was a magnet for fringers. Of course that is what the media focused on also. Every time one of these kooks spoke..there was a camera there. The media did a hatchet job on RP and he failed to distance himself from some of these people against many of his followers advice. He felt to address these elements was to give them credibility...I think that was the wrong strategy...not that it would have mattered anyway. The system is totally stacked against a 3rd party and I doubt one will ever do more than just decide the election for one of the other 2 gangs by drawing votes away from the loser.
