Please restrict the use of Christmas music from Black Friday to Christmas Day. Thanks.... RE: What music are you listening to right now - Lush - 11-23-2007 12:50 PM Albums I'm not really getting into, but am giving second and third listens don't really get it. maybe too chaotic for my tastes. some tracks are nice, but i can't get into the album. i know, i know. I should really love this album, but I don't. I've heard it a few times now and it didn't grab me at first like Yankee or Ghost did. Have yet to check out AM, Summerteeth et al. No one particular song stood out. The previous two have me singing along with every word. I'm not giving up on this album though. See my response to the above. I guess I'm writing these bands off immediately, because no way in hell they're gonna top their last albums. Maybe I have this preconcieved notion of the album before I hear it that distracts me from actually sitting down and enjoying it when I do in fact hear it <-stemming off my previous statement. I find myself going away from it for a while without much urge to throw it on, but when I do, it's the good stuff. The guitar work is far and away the best thing about this record for me. In fact, it's influenced my guitar playing . . . not that I'm any better, but it's pushed me to explore new sounds, which at this point in my life (not serious musician nor in a band) doesn't happen all that often. As for the record as a whole, I still think its major flaw is its lack of diversity. Indivudually, nearly every song on the record is great, but together, they're a lot of the same thing. Even songs that foray into different genres on the disc have the same feel and the same tempo. The entire record feels like it's traveling at the same pace, which is fine and probably some people love that aspect, but I like more dynamics. How did "That's the Thanks I get" get left off this record? Perhaps alone it would stand out like a sore thumb on that track-list, but a couple songs to break up the pace would have done wonders for that record. Anywho, thoughts on my analysis? What do 84 and Blah think? As for me, I've been listening to: Sufjan Stevens Christmas box (thanks for the reminder Lush) Ike Reilly Assasination - We Belong to the Staggering Evening (finally got this record and it's awesome. A big rebound from their last effort. This one sounds a lot like their second record Sparkle to the Finish) RE: What music are you listening to right now - blah - 11-30-2007 12:21 PM Pretty good soundtrack with some big names singing Jesse Harris' songs... Includes: M. Ward, Bright Eyes, The Black Keys, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Feist and Willie Nelson plus others. RE: What music are you listening to right now - dynovinyl - 12-06-2007 12:35 PM Tis a good one, Blah. While I always kind of liked them, I really started getting into them the past couple years. Saw them in concert last year. They were great. R.L.
