Anyone in the SunBelt know anything about this?

Is Jim Tirey usually reliable with his information?

I don't know anything other than this was rumored a few weeks ago then it all seemed to die down. If this is what they want I wish them luck, the MAC is a fine conference.

The MAC had some meetings a couple of weeks ago so this could all fit into something. Could we have gone to WKU and said if you build up football and move to I-A in the future we will invite you to join our conference?

The next question is will the MAC also go after MTSU or Temple as the 14th member?

My money is on these "reports" being bogus. Some western fans are going to great lengths to gin up talk on these boards, even to the point of generating a bogus news article several weeks ago about wku to the MAC along with Temple for fb only. I am not putting any credence in any of this stuff until I see legitimate articles or reports in credible newspapers.

It is becoming laughable.

For what it's worth, a very reliable source within the MAC has said there might be something to this. His contacts within the MAC office would not give him a straight answer. He believes that if there is something to it, it involves both WKU and MTSU.

My best guess is that there has been discussions. WKU and MTSU might just be laying the ground work for a move should they have to if the Western BELT schhols leave.

Unfortunatly to say it, I think a move to the WAC would be best for us western SBC schools if MT and WKU bolt. It would leave us in a funny spot, relying TOTALLY on both 1AA florida schools to make the cut, at that point, I think that UL/UNT/ASU/TSU would have no other choice really but to bolt. That would leave ULM who was our FB only member to find a way, and also probably Idaho unless the other SBC schools make sure their included in a merge. Personally though, I dont think MT or WKU will goto the MAC, butits a sad thing to imagine if they do.

I would love to see the SBC live on, even if WKU and MTSU leave. However, your conference has taken some big hits already and losing them will be very bad for you.

Maybe somehow the SBC can get LaTech fromt he WAC which could change things around.
